600 Lake Drive

600 LAKE DRIVE
A bit of history

600 Lake Drive's original owner was its builder, so the house is of very high-quality construction. It is built with 18-inch-thick stone walls (first floor), siding on the upper floor and additions, and a slate roof. The last owner, Lee Jones, bought the house in 1971, and over the course of the next few decades he made several wonderful additions. The "nursery" over the breezeway, connected to the master bedroom, was added as a sunroom/conservatory; a large breakfast room was added (and includes a large bay window with a view down the entire 8th hole of the Country Club of Maryland); and the basement was renovated to create a club room on one side, leaving the other side unfinished for use as a machine shop.

600 Lake Drive has an interesting history. The movie "Serial Mom" (John Waters, 1994) was filmed inside the house (though the red room has been repainted). In addition, thanks to Lee Jones' dedicated ministrations, it received the Azalea House of the Year award in 2002.
